Information on Marlborough’s climate;

Marlborough is one of the sunniest parts of New Zealand, with the average number of sunshine hours for Blenheim being consistently amongst the highest for any town or city in the country.

Each season in Marlborough has its a unique style, characterised by its own special kind of sunshine.  Summer brings long warm days and stunning evenings; autumn promises clear, still, blue sky days and a blaze of colour as the vines shed their leaves; winter is short and brings a spectacular rim of snow on the distant high-country mountains and spring arrives with a sudden burst of cherry blossom and leaf.

The release of NIWA’s annual climate summary has become a hot competition for New Zealand’s solar-blessed spots, with towns and regions battling it out to be declared the official “sunshine capital”.  Going back through the years there are a few regions that consistently beam into the top spots for sunshine hours – Marlborough, Bay of Plenty, Nelson and more recently New Plymouth has enjoyed top billing!
