Pop up parks

In line with the BBA’s strategic goal to revitalise the town centre, in February 2019 the BBA undertook a trial of turning a pedestrian only section of road in the town centre to create a public play and relaxation space. The 6 week trial was hugely successful with the public, particularly those with young children. It provided a space for young ones to play, for caregivers to relax, and for the general public the gather to enjoy workshops, craft sessions and music. A second pop up park was created in the existing Market Place (the Forum) over the 2019/20 summer season.

Subsequent pop-parks have been set up in Market Place, and in the Wynen St pocket park area over 2019/2020.

Pop up parks are a great way to activate existing public spaces and create opportunities for socialisation, play, creativity and performance in an affordable, unique and experimental way.

If you have an idea as to how we can activate an existing public space in Blenheim Central, please send us an email, we’d love to hear from you!
